TEATRO RACHEL DE QUEIROZ

Inaugurado em 20/06/1992, durante a gestão do prefeito Dráulio Holanda e do secretário municipal de cultura Humberto Cunha. A construção foi de responsabilidade da Prefeitura Municipal com o apoio do Ministério da Educação e Cultura. A homenagem à Rachel de Queiroz (1910-2003) se deve ao fato da escritora e dramaturga, durante a juventude, ter sido assídua frequentadora da cidade de Guaramiranga em visita aos seus familiares Queiroz e Mattos Brito, época em que chegou a atuar nos tradicionais “dramas”, expressões tradicionais das artes cênicas da região. Atendendo à demanda dos artistas locais, este espaço é também sede de eventos como o Festival Nordestino de Teatro de Guaramiranga, Festival de Jazz e Blues, dentre outras mostras teatrais, seminários, palestras, oficinas e shows musicais.

Inaugurated on June 20, 1992, during the administration of Mayor Dráulio Holanda and Municipal Secretary of Culture Humberto Cunha. The construction was the responsibility of the City Hall with the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The homage to Rachel de Queiroz (1910-2003) is due to the fact that the writer and playwright, during her youth, was a frequent visitor to the city of Guaramiranga, visiting her family members Queiroz and Mattos Brito, when she performed in the traditional "dramas", traditional expressions of the scenic arts in the region. Meeting the demand of local artists, this space also hosts events such as the Guaramiranga Northeast Theater Festival, Jazz and Blues Festival, among other theatrical shows, seminars, lectures, workshops, and musical concerts.
